Six outs for Halloween week. Get out of the house. Three are in The Villages: Spanish Springs every night, ending with Home State Halloween on Saturday (this week’s one town-square outing); a free outdoor movie at Saddlebrook on Wednesday; and a costume party at Churchill Street on Friday afternoon. Three are outside: the Tuesday farmers and crafts market in Lady Lake, the church pumpkin patch in Fruitland Park, and a lighthearted costumed history tour of Wildwood’s Baker House.

Sun Oct. 25 to Sat Oct. 31: free live music on the outdoor stage every night. Friday is Rocky and The Rollers (6–10 p.m.), who have been playing The Villages for 27 years. Saturday is Halloween with Home State Halloween. Come dressed as a state icon, landmark, famous figure or favorite team. Scooter the DJ plays 6–10 p.m., Thrill The Villages performs at 6:45 p.m., and there are costume contests (Best State Spirit, United States of Awesome, America’s Choice). The rest of the week: Dance Express Sun 25, Blonde Ambition Mon 26, Gilly & the Girl Trio Tue 27, Old Skool Wed 28 and Blue Stone Circle Thu 29. Sun–Thu shows run 5–9 p.m. and Fri–Sat shows 6–10 p.m. The schedule can change. This is the week’s one town-square outing.

Wed Oct. 28. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 5:00 p.m. (1 hr 46 min). It’s a lawyer’s family stalked by a man he once helped send to prison, which is a good grown-up pick for Halloween week. Golf cars are allowed on the field for viewing, with space set aside for lawn chairs and blankets. The concession stand will be open. Registration is required. The District’s registration page showed 31 openings on Oct. 24. The printed October calendar listed this film for Oct. 8; the District’s live registration now shows Wed Oct. 28, so go by that.

Fri Oct. 30, 2:00–3:50 p.m., Lindsey Paddock Room. Wear your best costume. The District promises spooky decorations, creepy treats, music, games and Halloween surprises. Ages 19 and up. Registration is required; the District page showed 59 openings on Oct. 24. It’s an afternoon party, so you’re home before dark, or you can head to Spanish Springs after.
Cost: Paid/fee (verified). $8 per person, residents and guests alike (the District October Social Calendar prints $8; the District registration page lists an $8.00 activity fee for residents and $8.00 for guests with valid ID).
